I was approached by the lovely Jess from Meg Rivers Artisan Bakery, a small family run bakery in the Cotswolds, to do my first ever collaboration! They’d spotted my birthday candle pins on Pinterest and thought they’d be a great addition to their Birthday Hamper, filled with chocolate birthday cake and candle, brownies, choc chip shortbread biscuits, a lemon drizzle tray, and of course a fabulous party crown!
Tweaking the candle enamel pin to suit the Meg Rivers branding was quite a simple process because I was just changing the colour references and not the pin’s metal work. The hardest part of the collab was getting the backing card design right because the bright cobalt blue and black in my logo did seem quite harsh and jarring against the warmer sage green of the bakery’s branding. Looking over a few design options we settled on a nice simple white band along the bottom edge of the backing card, to hold my branding. The rest of the card is the Meg Rivers green which looks lovely in the satin finish.
We’re all really pleased with how the pins turned out and what a great first collaboration! I even got a selection of baked treats sent to me so I can confirm that this Birthday Hamper would be a much appreciated and quickly consumed birthday gift! If the contents of the hamper wasn’t good enough, it’s part of the Meg River’s Hope & Joy collection which aims to raise £1 million for cancer charities in the UK. When you buy a hamper from the collection, £5 is donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust. My Mum died from cancer so I’m so pleased that my birthday candle pin helps play a small part in this brilliant collection that shows #GIVINGISAPIECEOFCAKE.
